Story 1 - Tsunami Fund Raising Bazaar (2005)

When Mohd Faiz bin Mohd Rashid (Dunman Sec, Sec 4 Exp 2004) first learnt of the tsunami disaster, he came up with a proposal and plan for Dunman Sec to host a charity bazaar cum concert to raise funds and presented it to the school. What followed was a joint effort by parents, students, staff, alumni, SAC and the community to raise funds for the tsunami victims. The Sec 4 students of 2004 together with current students worked overtime to ensure the success of the event held on Sunday 16th Jan 2005.

Parents and students cleared their homes of unwanted items and brought them to the school. The Parents' Support Group priced the items and put them up for sale. Parents and students made beautiful pottery for sale. Students sought creative ways of raising money. For example, Sec 4A decided on a car wash, 4B grossed over a thousand dollars through the sale of ice-cream donated by a parent, 4J created a haunted house, 5B set up a disco while 4F made lots of money from their dunking machine.

The concert graced by Mr Sheikh Haikel, the rapper and ex-Dunmanite Dwayne Lau was a success with more than 400 tickets sold at $15. The Dunman alumni band and choir joined current students in the performance which also featured Dunman's wushu sensation and NPCC drill. Mohd Faiz is happy that his idea has generated more than $35,000 for the tsunami victims.

Story 2 - Very Special Arts
Inspired by their seniors who initiated the Tsunami Charity Bazaar for the unfortunate tsunami victims, Sec 2A chose to care for the Very Special Arts, a voluntary welfare organisation that caters to the needs of the disabled. They helped to raise awareness and funds through the sale of crystal ornaments and trinkets.
