Dunman’s Pupil Leadership Programme falls under the umbrella of the Character Develoment Framework. The school, together with the Parent’s Group help conceptualized this framework at the start of the year. Since then, our programmes and activities have been aligned to support the school’s thrust of developing character through leadership development programmes.

In Dunman, our Leadership Development Programme (LDP) unit continues to provide a platform for nurturing leaders. As part of the school’s strategic thrust, Dunman’s LDP approach towards 100% leadership opportunities for all Dunmanites has been 2-pronged: Providing leadership opportunities through established leadership units like the Students’ Council and the Class Committee, providing opportunities to develop initiative, responsibility and leadership ability through self-paced, self-initiated activities as part of the NYAA programme. In addition, school-wide leadership opportunities have been provided to our young leaders in Leadership Training Camps and Sec 1 Orientation Camps

The Student’s Council continues to be Dunman’s highest leadership-serving body, serving the students and staff of Dunman. The President, currently Sim Yihan (Sec 4A), leads a group of student leaders who various departments. From assisting the Pupil Management Department to handle its latecomers, to managing the Student Suggestion Scheme, or planning and organising the Sec 1 Orientation Camp, the Council, under the guidance of teachers, has sought to implement programmes that would make a marked difference, and serve as a role model for all Dunmanites to aspire. Opportunities have also been given to the Council to work closely with other leadership groups, including the class committees and our CCA leaders. Currently, the Peer Leaders have been subsumed under the Peer Support Programme Department. All these serve to nurture, develop and demonstrate their leadership and organizational skills. :

Dunman selects her leaders through a process of rigorous selection. The President himself must come under scrutiny of the student body, and therefore, our Presidential Nominees undergo the entire electoral process. Last year Sim Yi Han (Sec 3A) was voted the President after the nominees made their election speeches in front of the student body.

All leaders in Dunman go through the Inauguration Ceremony in February/March to invest our leaders with the privilege to serve the school in the various leadership groups, namely the Students’ Council (including the new councillors and members of the Executive Committee) and the Monitorial Board (comprising of the Class Committees). This year, the CCA Council was formed to better provide resources and support for all CCA leaders.

The Class Committees works as a platform for leaders to serve at the class level. All the Class Committees fall under the headship of the The Monitorial Board, headed by Alif Z B Zakaria(Sec 4A) and Bok Chuan Choon (Sec 4D). The Board assist in coordinating training activities for the Class Committees at the various levels. They also provided advice, guidance as well as support for the younger Committee members in the Sec 1 and 2 levels. Each class committee has a set of Instructional Leaders (IP Reps) to serve as Representatives under the various subjects.

Our Peer Leaders are another lot of servant leaders who help mould our young Dunmanites to be confident students, imbibed with our 6Ds. The Sec 1s certainly have settled down quickly, thanks to our concerned efforts of our Executive Committee board headed by Shiffa Humaira (Sec 4C) and Hector Sim (Sec 4B) , who have helped direct and implement Peer Support activities to orientate the Sec 1s. Another role undertaken by the Peer Leaders is the Peer Mediation Unit. This year, our Peer Leaders were trained in mediating skills. Opportunities in the area of mentoring and mediation have increased the confidence of our Peer Leaders.
