The
Dunman Investigative Science Symposium is an opportunity for
students to hone their investigative research skills, through the
initiation and development of an original idea to investigate an
area in either environmental science or life sciences. Their work
will be assessed by scientists, as well as by science educators in
Singapore
.
In
this competition, students will have to work on an investigative
project based on their ideas, record their investigation in a log
book, prepare a report that reflects different aspects of
investigation and present their findings.
Most schools do have Science Project Work and teachers involved in
these may want to consider sending in entries for this competition. It
would be good if teachers could use existing projects as long as the
project has not won any major competitions.
This would give students a platform to showcase their
investigative science projects.
There will be two main categories in this year’s competition.
1. Environmental science
2. Life Sciences
The
competition is open to two categories of students;
1. Primary Schools
2. Secondary Schools
For each category there will be 3 prizes as follow:
First Prize: $400/-
Second Prize: $300/-
Third Prize: $200/-
The
deadline for registration is 21 Apr 2008.
Students are expected to complete their project by 1 Aug 2008.
