The East Zone Life Sciences Learning and Research Centre is committed to playing a supporting role in developing budding scientists to meet the manpower resources Singapore needs in the area of the life-sciences. It does so by reaching out to teachers and students with a keen interest in the life sciences. In the past five years of its existence, the centre has conducted a variety of training programmesfor teachers and students. It has also engaged teachers and students from various schools in research projects.

The centre was officially launched by Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development on 6 April 2002. The center is grateful to all who have contributed to its set up. The center received support from the the North East CDC and the MOE Innovation Fund.
