The East Zone Life Sciences Learning
and Research Centre is committed to playing a supporting role in
developing budding scientists to meet the manpower resources Singapore
needs in the area of the life-sciences. It does so by reaching out
to teachers and students with a keen interest in the life sciences.
In the past five years of its existence, the centre has conducted
a variety of training programmesfor teachers and students. It has
also engaged teachers and students from various schools in research
projects.
The centre was officially launched by Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for
National Development on 6 April 2002. The center is grateful to
all who have contributed to its set up. The center received support
from the the North East CDC and the MOE Innovation Fund. The centre
is most grateful to the SHAW Foundation which donated a total of
$200,000 over five years to the centre.
