Microbiology  (Basic)
(2 half-day [6 hours] workshop)

  • 2 Half-Day Workshop
  • Time: 2.30 - 5.30pm
Cost per participant: $40
25 students from the Sec 2 or 3 from East Zone schools
  • To provide hands-on experiences through experimentation in microbiology.
  • To provide a basic exposure to life sciences programme.
  • Participants would learn the basic techniques in microbiology and its use in genetic engineering.

25 & 26 Mar

Forensic Science  (Basic)
(2 half-day [6 hours] workshop)

  • 2 Half-Day Workshop
  • Time: 2.30 - 5.30pm
Cost per participant: $40
25 students from the Sec 2 or 3 from East Zone schools.
  • To provide a basic exposure to life sciences programme
  • Participants would learn the basics in DNA work.
  • To identify, and analyze trace DNA material.
4 & 7 Apr

UV and Me

  • 2 Half-Day Workshop
  • Time: 2.30 - 5.30pm
Cost per participant: $40
25 students from the Sec 2 or 3 from East Zone schools.
  • To study  the effects of the UV rays from the sun versus the UV lamp
  • To investigate the effectiveness of the various barriers used to block UV rays such as sun-blocks and shades.
  • To learn the basic microbiology techniques .

Sec 2 Life Sciences Programme the wonders of genetic engineering.

Workshop for students in genetic engineering and proteomics

    • To provide an experiential Life Science Training programme on the basics of basic molecular genetic.
    • To provide opportunities for students to learn and practise molecular cloning techniques
Ongoing Research projects Teachers and students from EZ schools  
 


The training sessions are in the afternoons except for the school holidays where it is possible for the session to be conducted in the mornings. It has been arranged tha the sessions are held on alternate weeks so that the lab can still be used for research work by students on the other days. However if the take up rate is good, we may increase the number of sessions.
