Using Cards to reinforce Learning in the Humanities
The Sharing Session explores various ways of using cards to instill
interest and spirit of competition in the students. It achieves
the goal of teaching less and learning more. This can be used as
a tool for revision or for reinforcing content. Cards can also be
laminated and recycled for future use. One of the card games adapts
elements from the game "UNO". Students play the game in
groups and take turns to lay down cards according to categories
specified e.g. Military strategies, military strength, military
preparedness, psychological advantage. Students who lay down the
Wild card can change the category and the one who is the first to
lay down all his cards is the winner.. Cards can be used for a variety
of tasks such as classifying, sequencing and matching.
