In 2007, the Dunman Life-Sciences Research Centre in collaboration with East Zone Schools organized the first East Zone Enviro-Life Sciences Symposium held at Chongzheng Primary School. The Guest of Honour for the event was Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC.

The keynote speaker for the event, Professor Leo Tan from NIE gave an inspiring talk entitled, 'Addressing Environmental and Life Sciences Issues Innovatively' that left the participants spellbound.

The event which saw more than 500 participants for the hall programme opened to schools and teachers and many more for the games cum exhibition opened to the community, was aimed at promoting investigation into the life-sciences and the environment. Prizes were kindly donated by SIA. In 2008, the 2nd East Zone Enviro-Life Sciences Symposium will be held at our new school hall.

Teachers from Dunman Secondary School and Chongzheng Primary School had the opportunity to showcase their curriculum innovations. The organising committee would like to thank all schools and organisations including the National Environment Agency, SIA and Dunman Dedicated and Supportive Parents' Group for their support of the event. We also thank our kind sponsors including Senoko Power. We would like to congratulate all winners of the competition.
