Complementary Programme :

The main Instructional Programme will only be effective if complemented by the following:

1. Morning Programme
The morning programme stretches from Tuesday to Thursday every week of the school term.

1.1 Tuesday: Vocabulary
Students should purchase the Vocabulary compilation from the bookshop once the book is ready for purchase. Each week, a list of vocabulary words is scheduled to be studied and tested. As such, all EL teachers should spend 1 period per week prior to the Vocabulary quiz taking place on Tuesday morning, to go through the Vocabulary exercise with the class. This would ensure students understand the words before the quiz.

1.2 Wednesday: Journal Writing
As usual, Mrs Neo would prepare the articles and questions beforehand. Students would be given time to read and respond to the question by writing an entry in their journal. It is expected of all EL teachers to mark the journals of at least one class while some non-EL form / co-form teachers have also been tasked to do so.

1.3 Thursday: Reading
The Reading Programme would require all students to be reading during this period. Students are also expected to complete written tasks on their reading.

2.  Night Study Programme (for Sec 4E/5N students)
This programme would most likely commence in end January or early February. Usually, all teachers of the department show support to this programme by volunteering to help out in a few sessions.

3. Shakespeare Lives Week & Speak Good English Week
Shakespeare Lives Week, also known as “Live (L)it Week”, is held in April while Speak Good English Week is help in July.

4. Competitions & Courses conducted by External Vendors
These are carried out on an ad-hoc basis.
