2008 was an exciting year for the Robotics Club, as the club finally had its own room – a cozy little “planet” for the Sec 1 to 4 “robots” to proudly declare as their home.
Early in the year, the Micromouse section’s Team “D’struct” clinched the 2nd runner-up position in the ITE Robotics Challenge (Micromouse Category) 2008, organized by ITE Central. This was a significant achievement for the “robots” as they had vowed to make it to the top 3 positions after they achieved 3rd runners-up in last year’s competition. Well done, “D’struct robots”!
The Sec 2 “robots” had a last play of the LEGO robots when they signed up for the ITE Robotics Challenge (LEGO Category) 2008, and had a fun time before they were split into the various sections.
As for the iRobot Section, the soccer “robots” are unable to excel their past year’s results in the Asia Pacific Robotics Competition. The “robots” have since planned their revenge for next year’s competition. We wish the best for the section.
The club’s 2nd major achievement came as quite a surprise when the newly inducted “robots” from Sec 1, under the guidance of a new trainer and moral support of their seniors, came in as 2nd runner-up in the East Zone DSO-DSTA Robotics Challenge 2008 (Secondary Autonomous Category). The “robots” performed well, having only lost to the 1st runner-up by a mere 5 seconds. Congratulations, young “robots”!
