We the members of the National Police Cadet Corps, do here and now solemnly and sincerely pledge that:
We will always bear true faith and allegiance to the President and our Republic of Singapore.
We will always be loyal and true to our country, our people and the government.
We will always be prepared to serve our country and community. |
In the year 2009, the Dunman National Police Cadet Corps made its mark on several fronts. The most prestigious of which was when, for the 2nd time in the Unit’s history, it was presented with the much coveted Gold Award in the annual Unit Overall Proficiency Award for 2007 and 2008. Not only was it a source of encouragement, it further affirmed that the hard work of both cadets and teachers had not been in vain.
It was with great joy to learn that Edwina Chow, from our 2009 Sec 4 cohort has clinched the Top Student of the year award for outstanding academic performance. Being a NPCC role model, Edwina exemplifies the spirit and character of a Dunmanite cadet who not only manages her time properly in both her studies and CCA, but also serves on the NPCC committee board overseeing the running of activities. Her exemplary performance has truly made the unit and its cadets proud.
One of the highlights of the year was also the National Drill competition where our cadets emerged as the Overall Champion and came in second for the Fancy Drill events amidst stiff competition from the various schools. The results are a combination of the effort and hard work put in by the cadets who selflessly committed their best in the preparation of the events. Through the training, the cadets were encouraged by the team work that was apparent at each of the sessions; they also learned important lessons and managed to push themselves to even greater heights. In addition, our cadets also managed to clinch the National Cheerleading competition event despite having a short preparation. This proves the fact that our cadets are versatile and are able to handle any challenges put forth before them if they put their heart and minds into it.
Another landmark event in 2009 was the unit’s Annual Camp. Though it was held under tight constraints, the organizing committee—made up of the Secondary 3 leaders—worked together to bring much joy to the cadets. Not only were there ample opportunities for the juniors and seniors to interact, exchange skills and work together, the camp saw both cadets and teachers actively involved in a common project. The cadets left for home in high spirits and the Secondary 3 cadets were very much encouraged by the invaluable feedback and learning opportunities.
During the September holidays last year, both the secondary 2s and 3s attended their respective Adventure Training Camps at the Pulau Ubin Campsite. Though it was brief—3 days 2 nights, it was evident that the students enjoyed themselves tremendously. They were provided with numerous opportunities to interact with peers from other schools in the area and experience what it truly felt like to camp in the open in tents they had worked together with their team-mates to put up. Jetty jumps, canoeing sessions and treasure hunts were only a sample of some of the activities painstakingly planned for them.

The MISSION of the National Police Cadet Corps is to develop its cadets into caring and responsible citizens.
The VISION of the National Police Cadet Corps is to mould the builders of a safe & secure home.
In accordance with our mission and vision, our unit ensures the growth of the cadets by exposing them to challenging environment such as giving them opportunities to organize Annual Camps and take part in HQ and area competitions. These in turn imbibe them with leadership qualities and strong character.
Besides participating in the various competitions, the cadets had an opportunity to do overseas community work during the November holidays. The overseas trip also include outdoor adventure activities like cave climbing, water rafting and trekking etc.

Due to our association with the Singapore Police Force, the unit also hope to enlighten the cadets on the duty of a responsible Singapore citizen by involving all cadets to take part in compulsory projects such as the Crime Prevention Project and Joint Neighbourhood Service Day
Through our various activities and training programme, we seek further development of the skills and values that we believe our cadets should cultivate. These include team work and team spirit, physical and mental endurance, persistence, self-discipline, independent learning, tolerance, respect and integrity amongst others.
