Dunman Secondary School was first established in Haig Road in 1963. In 1990, the school moved to Tampines New Town where it progressed over the years to become one of the more popular schools in the area. In 2006, the school received the Public Service Award for Organisational Excellence from SPRING. In 2007, it received the School Distinction Award.
2009 has been a memorable year for Dunman Secondary School. The school was revalidated for its autonomous status and Singapore Quality Class and achieved all 3 Best Practice Awards awarded by the Ministry of Education. These include Best Practice for Student All Round Development, Teaching and Learning and Staff Well Being. In addition, the school receives all 5 Sustained Achievement Awards - Sports, Academic Achievement, Physical Fitness, Aesthetics and Uniformed Groups.. Credit goes to all our committed and dedicated staff who do their best to nurture our students into Distinctive Dunmanites equipped with the 5 Values and 12 Essential Skills embodied in the DARE (Dunman All Round Excellence) Framework. Dunman was one of two schools awarded the inaugural Lee Hsien Loong Award for Innovations in the Normal Stream. The school has established a fine reputation for itself in the area of innovation.
For the 4th successive year, Dunman Secondary has achieved a Gold Award for adding value to its express stream students. In 2009, the school also clinched a Gold Award for the normal stream.In 2009, school is also the first government school in Singapore to be awarded the Service Class this year.

Academic Achievements
Over the past 5 years since 2004, Dunman Secondary has performed well for the GCE 'O' level examinations. For the GCE 'O' level results 2008, 94.6% of express stream students qualified for Junior College and 100% qualified for entry into the Polytechnics. |

The Normal Academic Stream also performed very well with 2 students identified as being the top students in Singapore for the Normal Academic examinations. Both students received the Lee Kuan Yew Award for Outstanding Normal Course students. Normal Technical Student Kwek Kai Yu sat for the Normal Academic Maths paper and scored an A1. 39% of NA students qualify for Junior College with 93.2% qualifying for the Polytechnic. The school was one of two schools confered the inaugural Lee Hsien Loong Award for Innovations in the Normal Stream.

Innovation
and Enterprise
In 2006, Dunman Secondary School was awarded the prestigious Service
Excellence Award by SPRING for organizational excellence.
Dunman Secondary received the National Thinking Culture Award 2005/6
given out to 7 schools in Singapore each year. Once again this year,
the school was awarded the National Thinking Culture for 2007/8. In 2009, the school was successfully revalidated for the PDS and i-class and received the Service Class
The school is extremely proud of our talented and creative Dunmanites
who have clinched several prestigious awards this year. Our students
continue to perform well in the environmental and life-sciences.

For the 4th successive year since 2006, the school clinched a prize in NEA's environment competition with the support of SIA, its partner in NEA's School and Corporate Partnership Scheme since 2005. The school won 2nd prize in 2006-8 and 3rd prize in 2009 with its project "Green food and Green fuels from discarded wastes". The first prize was won by RI and the second by NUS School of Maths and Science.

The Life-Sciences team from Dunman Sec clinched first prize in the life sciences category at the 3rd EZ Enviro Life Sciences symposium with their project on the effects of Microwaving Plastics on Microbial Indicators. The team receives their prize from Ms Yeoh Chee Yan, 2nd Permanent Secretary for Education. |
A team from Dunman also clinched a merit award at the 3rd Enviro Life Sciences symposium with their project "Investigating the effects of temperature on the concentration of Vitamin C."

In the Young Enterpreneurship Challenge (YES)
as part of theNational Entrepreneurial Convention (NEC) 2007 (left),
a team of Dunman students emerged National Champions with their
innovative business plan on car maintenance. In 2008, they emerged first runner-up and in 2009, they clinched 2 Gold Awards.

In the 2009 School Video Awards, Dunman Secondary clinched a Gold Award.

In the Lam Soon CC Salad Competition, Dunman Sec clinched 1st and 2nd prize with its recipes "Rainbow Salad on Sesame Egg Omelette with Waffles " & " Treasure Balls."

At the Young Designer's Award given out by the Design Singapore Association, the school bagged 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Awards.

In the National F1 Competition by Ngee Ann Poly, the school received 3rd prize in the best engineered car section.

In the D & T Coursework Awards Presentation
2009, Dunman Secondary received 1 Creative Innovation Award and 5 Creative Aesthetic Awards. The school was also given an award for having the most number of shortlisted entries. The school's Design Nexus was featured in a UK publication this year.

Aesthetics
For the 2009 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging,
Dunman Secondary clinched 8 awards. The Dunman Choir clinched a Gold with Honours Award, a feat they accomplished in 2007. In 2007, they participated in the 2nd International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Slovakia and clinched a Gold Award. They also clinched a Gold Award in Prague in 2003 and 2005. This year, the choir looks forward to bagging another Gold Award in Europe.

Organisations
For 2008/9, Dunman Secondary has clinched the sustained achievement
award for uniformed groups for the 9th Year with 2 Gold Award and
1 Silver Award and 2 Bronze Awards.. The NCC (Air) and NPCC achieved a Gold Award while the Red Cross achieved a Silver Award. The NCC Land and Scouts received a Bronze Award.

Sports
and Games
Our Netball Teams did the school proud by clinching 1st place for both the B and C Division Girls in the East Zone Games. Our B division girls made it to 3rd place in the National Games.
 
The school's Volleyball Teams performed well with our C girls taking 1st position in the East Zone Games. The C Boys came in 2nd while both the B Boys and C Girls made it to 3rd position.

Basketball Teams - For the first time in Dunman's history, our B Division and C Division Girls emerged Champions in the National Basketball Tournaments. Two players from both Girls' teams were awarded the Most Valuable Player Award in the National Championship. Our B Boys clinched the 3rd position in the National Tournaments while the C Boys clinched 2nd position.

The Interact Club which works closely with the Rotary Club of Marina City has received the Presidential Citation award by Rotary International and the Best International Service Award by Rotary District in 2009.
